Desegregation/Integration

The Duluth Public Schools Comprehensive Desegregation/Integration Program is developed to maintain compliance with the Minnesota Rule 3535, which governs Desegregation.
The Duluth Public Schools Comprehensive Desegregation/Integration Program incorporates a philosophy, a mission and a set of goals developed in cooperation with communities impacted by Desegregation. The centerpiece of ISD #709's Desegregation/Integration Plan strives to encourage maximum participation from community members representing the diversity within the Duluth Public Schools.
The desegregation/integration goals that align Desegregation programs with Rule 3535 were developed by the Superintendent's Desegregation /Integration Advisory Council. The philosophy, the mission statement and the goals are the basis that directs the course of action relative to desegregation/integration efforts and establishes guidelines for the allocation of desegregation revenues.
The Duluth Public Schools Desegregation/Integration Comprehensive Program features voluntary magnet schools, desegregation schools,  cultural specific resource centers, recruitment for staff of color component, student transitional project, and administrative support for all of the program areas.
