Healthy Kids Are Better Learners...

School Health Services are offered to students of District 709 to help them maintain a high level of wellness.  Many parents wonder when to keep children home or send them to school.  The following information is intended to help parents with this decision.

A child/youth should stay home if he/she:

  • has had a fever of 100 degrees or more, and should remain at home for 24 hours after the temperature returns to normal.
  • has vomited or has had diarrhea, and should remain at home for 24 hours after it has stopped.
  • has a persistent cough.
  • has any rash.
  • has open or draining skin sores.
  • has inflamed or draining eyes or ears.

If your child is ill, please call the school to report the illness.

If you have questions about the information listed above, please contact your child's school nurse.

Vision, Hearing, and Scoliosis screenings are offered at selected grades.  If you have questions about your child's hearing, vision or other health concerns, please contact your child's school nurse.
