ACHIEVEMENT, ATTENDANCE & CITIZENSHIP AWARDS

Good work habits and good citizenship enhance the ability of all students to be partners in learning and leaders for life.
The following awards will be presented at 9th, 10th, and 11th grade assemblies in May,
and Senior Last Chapel for seniors, with the exception of
the Academic Letter which will be awarded in the fall.
HONOR ROLL
Students on the Honor Roll four out of five grade periods will be awarded a certificate and a ribbon.
MERIT ROLL
Students on the Merit Roll four out of five grade periods will be awarded a certificate.
ATENDANCE AWARDS
Exemplary Attendance Students with no excused absences and no unexcused absences will be awarded a pin and a certificate. Students who participate in school activities outside of the classroom may receive this award, if their attendance is otherwise perfect.
Semester Attendance Students with no excused absences and no unexcused absences for either first
or second semester will be awarded a certificate.
CITIZENSHIP
Students earn this award through faculty nomination. Faculty members nominate students who show a kind, helping and caring nature, and who exhibit excellent conduct and effort. A certificate and a ribbon will be awarded for good citizenship.
STUDENT OF THE MONTH
Each grade period during the school year, one boy and one girl are selected from each grade as Students of the Month. Students are nominated by teachers based on academic achievement, effort, scholastic improvement and citizenship. Students earn certificates and recognition.
DEPARTMENTAL AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
One senior student may be chosen from each department for this award. Students who are honored with this award display passion and extraordinary interest in a subject area that is above and beyond good grades. Students chosen must have exemplary conduct and attendance. Candidates will be chosen by a departmental vote, which is based on cumulative accomplishment in grades 9-12. Winners will be named on a plaque in our Academic Hall of Fame. All students selected will receive a certificate and a pin.
DULUTH CENTRAL ACADEMIC LETTER
A letter "D" is earned through excellent achievement in academics. Students will letter in academics if they are in the top 7% of their class for one year and also have taken a minimum of two honors classes. The Guidance Office will publish the list of achievement award winners from the preceding year in the fall. Students will receive a certificate that entitles them to wear an academic letter. Chevrons may be earned for each additional year of meeting letter requirements.
