CHUM

CHUM provides core social safety net programs which include emergency food, shelter, advocacy, and outreach to over 7,000 hungry, homeless and low-income people each year. Housing Advocates and Street Case Managers provide stabilization services through case management programs for homeless or imminently homeless families and single adults. CHUM's congregational outreach and community organizing efforts center on social justice issues around homelessness, poverty and employment.

City of Duluth

The City of Duluth partners with Service-Learning initiatives by connecting teachers with necessary resources and promoting neighborhood development and educational opportunities.

College of St. Scholastica (CSS)

CSS offers several Service-Learning courses and study abroad opportunities.  The college is also a member of several Service-Learning initiatives and participant in other Service-Learning activities.

Community Action Duluth

It is the mission of Community Action Duluth to use innovative strategies that mobilize low-income people and the broader community to build assets that prevent poverty, create equality, and strengthen our social fabric.

LISC

The Local Initiatives Support Corporation is dedicated to helping community residents transform distressed neighborhoods into healthy and sustainable communities of choice and opportunity.  LISC mobilizes corporate, government and philanthropic support to to help local community development organizations. Their goals are to: expand investment in real estate, increase family wealth and income, stimulate economic development, improve access to quality education, and support healthy environments and lifestyles.

Minnesota Department of Education

The Minnesota Department of Education seeks to increase the number of learners in service experiences that provide immediate relevance to academic studying as well as opportunities for learners to demonstrate how to solve real-world problems.  Training opportunities and other resources for school and district staff on how to develop and implement Service-Learning programs are available through the Department.

Neighborhood Housing Services

The mission of NHS Duluth is to create economically viable and healthy neighborhoods through homeownership preservation, homeownership promotion, and community stabilization activies in the Northland.

State Farm

State Farm is recognized as the nation's corporate leader in Service-Learning.  State Farm provides support to Service-Learning through dozens of grant opportunities, partnerships, councils, and organizations.

The Y

The Duluth YMCA is one of the largest not-for-profit community service organizations in Northeastern Minnesota.  The Y is committed to: improve lives, children and youth, families, health and well-being, and communities. 

University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD)

The mission of the Office of Civic Engagement is to create a campus of citizens who are civically aware, skilled and committed to act for the public good. The Office of Civic Engagement accomplishes this mission through curricular and co-curricular activities that create opportunities for citizens to find a meaningful role in their local, regional, national, and international communities.

University of Wisconsin Superior (UWS)

The vision of the UWS Academic Center for Service-Learning is to support and increase opportunities for formal academic service-learning across the curriculum, enriching the lives of their students, the University, and the Community.  Their mission is to enhance academic study and deepen civic responsibility by integrating community service, with directed reflection, within course curriculum.

West Duluth (SVCNDA)

After enduring serious setbacks, West Duluth developed a revitalization plan to build upon its assets.  The Spirit Valley Citizens' Neighborhood Development Association is working in cooperation with a wide range of partners including the City of Duluth, private sector interests, and non-profit service organizations to achieve their plan.
